What is the Center for Peace?

The Center for Peace is a multi-faceted branch of Perpetual Help Home: It's a business that advances the work and life skills of PHH residents while providing mediation training in the community and facilitating our outreach programs.

As a micro-enterprise, it:
  • provides on the job training for PHH residents;
  • allows residents to gain skills in running a business; and
  • improves participating residents' job marketability to increase long-term financial independence.
As a source of mediation services for community, it offers:
  • information and referrals for dispute resolution;
  • mediation and conflict resolution training; and
  • education of mediation.
As the outreach arm for PHH residents to give back to community, it includes:
  • a criminal justice professional thank you project;
  • the Night to Light outreach to show women on the streets that there is hope for a better life;
  • Letters from Home;
  • Crime Victim Support Circles;
  • Circle Solutions, restorative justice circles used to address truancy and dropouts.
  • "Light in the Darkness: Stories of Hope," a booklet written by the women of Perpetual Help Home to encourage families of people who are in jail by showing them that people can turn their lives around.
